Interview with First and Youth Team Player: Sam Jones
Sam you are now into your 8th and final season at the Academy, this coming Sunday will see you play in arguably the biggest game of your time with the Academy and the Academies itself. How does that sound and make you feel?
It's obviously a huge occasion for everyone but made even bigger for me and a few others knowing that it's one of the biggest games in our last season. We want to finish on a high!
You scored all 4 goals in the quarter final. How did that feel, especially against Bangor who pipped us to the WPL Development League Grand Final 4-3 last May...?
To get the win was the main thing for the team, but to score all 4 was a massive personal achievement and made the victory a bit sweeter. It was probably the best game I've played in a Cambrian shirt but all of the boys were unbelievable on the big stage.
How's the mood within the squad going into the Semi Final vs Llandudno on Sunday after a disappointing result last Sunday away to Barry Town?
We are all still positive despite being disappointed in losing our unbeaten league record, all the boys are focused and we know what needs to improve and be done to get the job done on Sunday.
Two Semi Finals ahead, possibility another WPL Development League South Title and therefore another WPL Development League Grand Final to look forward to. A good season so far but so much potential to achieve, are you happy?
We want to win everything that;s in front of us and so far it's all good. There's still games to go in all competitions and we are at the point of the season where we can't afford any slip ups. We want to be the best and we have to show that as we have done in the past.
Llandudno are currently lying 6th in the WPL Development North table, they reached the FAW Youth Cup Quarter Finals last season and the Semi Finals this season. It will no doubt be a tough game Sunday?
It will be a hard game, they're a decent side who will want to get to the final just as much as us. They're a team we don't know much about, but the quality we have can beat any team so I'm confident that we can win and progress through to the final.
